Texarkana man helps family's dogwood tree bloom again
When Matthew Garrison was in seminary, he asked his father to make the chalice he would use as a priest. Gary "Butch" Garrison worked out a method to make the chalice, and then realized he could make it of the wood left from a dogwood tree beloved by two generations of his family.

Ballet ensemble pairs love of Catholic Church with dance
Mariah Bordovsky and sisters Mary Elizabeth and Lauralee Goodwin are serious about ballet and about their faith. The three recently formed their own ensemble, Paschal Praise, and performed before fellow parishioners at St. Joseph Church in Fayetteville.

Mother Teresa's sisters bless Little Rock for 25 years
The Missionaries of Charity of Calcutta came to Little Rock in 1983 to operate Abba House, a home for pregnant and homeless women. Bishop emeritus Andrew J. McDonald returned to the state to celebrate Mass April 24 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church to recognize the sisters' 25th anniversary of ministering to the poorest of the poor in central Arkansas.

Two Marine reservists from Little Rock got an enthusiastic welcome home April 28 from Christ the King School in Little Rock. They were pen pals with a first-grade class at Christ the King while they were stationed in Iraq.

About 80 people met in Hot Springs April 19 to hear from pro-life experts on the activities of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States. They are concerned that recent activities of Choice Hot Springs may be leading to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Garland County.

Two buses loaded with youth from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in North Little Rock (Marche) rolled into Washington, D.C., around dawn April 17 and found word of their leap of faith had preceded them.
